Warranty & crash replacement

Backed for life.

We're engineers who ride. We know what breaks pedals, because we've done it ourselves — usually on something we should have seen coming. That experience is built into every pedal we make, and it's backed by this warranty.

We build these pedals to last. If something goes wrong that shouldn't, we'll make it right.

Lifetime manufacturer's warranty

For as long as you own them

Dropbear MTB warrants its pedals to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the original owner, when used as intended for mountain biking.

“Lifetime” means for as long as you, the original purchaser, own the product. This warranty is not transferable to subsequent owners.

If a defect is found

Dropbear MTB will, at its discretion, repair the product — or replace it with the same pedal or an equivalent.

What's covered

What we got wrong in the making

Manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship
Structural failure of axles, bodies and load-bearing components under normal riding conditions
What's not covered

What the mountain had to say about it

We ride. We know what breaks things on the trail — big rocks, bad lines, sudden trees, and the occasional decision that felt good at the time. We're not judging.

Normal wear and tear
Pins, bearings, bushings and surface finishes that wear down through regular use.
Crash and impact damage
Rock strikes, drops, cased landings, that rock you didn't see. Not a warranty claim — but you get 30% off a replacement set under the crash replacement program below.
Improper installation
Damage caused by incorrect fitting or torque.
Poor maintenance or neglect
Leaving them in a state you'd be embarrassed to describe to us.
Modifications
Non-standard repairs or use of non-approved parts.
Use outside mountain biking
Motorised use, commercial hire, or anything your insurer would raise an eyebrow at.
Not sure where you stand?

When it's genuinely unclear what caused a failure, we'll give you the benefit of the doubt. If you're not sure whether something is covered, reach out before you assume it isn't.

Crash replacement program

One bad day shouldn't cost you a set

Crashes happen. We've been there. If you crash and your pedals are no longer safe or rideable — your fault or nobody's — you get 30% off a replacement set. It isn't a warranty claim, it's a discount on new pedals.

30% off a replacement set
Applied to a full set of new Dropbear MTB pedals — including crashes that were entirely your own doing.
Original owner, with proof of purchase
Damaged pedals must be returned to us for assessment.
No limit on the number of claims
Though we reserve the right to decline claims that suggest something other than normal riding is happening.

This program exists because good gear shouldn't end up in the bin after one bad day. It's not a free replacement — but it's as close as we can make it while keeping the lights on in Brookvale.

How to make a claim

Three things, one email

We'll assess every claim honestly and quickly, because any time off the bike is time wasted.

01

Proof of purchase

Receipt, order number or invoice — whatever shows you bought them and when.

02

Clear photos

The whole pedal and a close-up of the issue. Good light beats a good angle.

03

What happened

A brief description. The honest version is more useful to us than the flattering one.

Your rights

Australian Consumer Law

This warranty adds to your rights under Australian law. It doesn't replace or limit them.

The benefits provided to you under this warranty are in addition to your other rights and remedies under Australian law, including the Australian Consumer Law.

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

What this means in practice: even after this warranty period, if our pedals fail in a way that a reasonable person wouldn't expect given the price and our representations about quality, you may still have remedies available to you under Australian Consumer Law. We won't tell you otherwise.

Questions about your consumer rights: visit accc.gov.au or contact the ACCC on 1300 302 502.
